who rocks the house? you do! (you just may not know it)

My inspiration for this post is the original Studio 54 nightclub which was hot and happening from 1977-1981.  The club was operated by the publicly visible Steve Rubell and his invisible creative partner, Ian Schrager.  What does this have to do with a Fun and Fabulous Finds posting?  Stay with me…

Rubell became widely known for his door policy, mixing ordinary people with glamorous celebrities and he would “cast a play” when selecting the perfect mix of people to enter the club each night.

Can you see me in the photo? Well, I am only there in my mind standing next to Andy Warhol..but it looks like fun and a girl can pretend!

So, rockin’ readers… Steve Rubell’s philosophy is exactly what you need to do with your style choices!  Select the perfect “mix” of pieces to reflect YOUR fashion and decor statement.

The following little gemstones of Fun and Fabulous Finds are currently inspiring my world.  Let’s see if they shimmy and shake yours as well.

Here is what I want to wear this Spring to channel the Studio 54 days:

Put these navy sequined shorts on and go have a little fun in the sun. Sequined silk-chiffon shorts by Adam

Here is what I want to sit in while reflecting on the styles of the late 1970’s and early 80’s while wearing the above shorts:

I would spin this chair round and round while wearing my sparkly fashion finds...Roche Bobois swivel armchair in Ungaro fabric

And I would carry this purse (circa 1980’s) with me in above chair while wearing sassy shorts:

I actually have this bag from when I was in high school in the 1980's. I will let you borrow it...

And to finish off the look let’s kick it old school:

oh yeah, baby! Vintage Ray Bans...

So, who rocks your house? The answer to this question should be YOU!  Let’s keep the countdown to 4/25 rolling….Until next time!

I am a Taurus. What is your decor and fashion sign?

I have thought a lot about how ones fashion sense tends to translate to the decor in their home. I started to analyze this after having a conversation with my good friend, Kari, on her wardrobe choices for an upcoming vacation. After we decided on her hip and happening outfit, we began talking about a chair she has always dreamed of purchasing for her house.  I hung up the phone and it hit me that Kari’s fabulous fashion sense has the same vibe as her home’s rockin’ decor. (Stay tuned, because her home will be featured in an upcoming post)!  My point for you to ponder today:  If what you choose to wear is an outside reflection of how others view you, then shouldn’t the decor in your home also be a bit of a window to your soul?
I love the carefree elements of fashion from the 60’s and early 70’s.  I am naturally drawn to that funky vibe in my clothes and I tend to incorporate some of that style into my home.

Here are a pair of boots I covet and want to purchase:

I bet many of you can appreciate this fun and fabulous find, but wouldn’t wear them! (If you would then I would love to hear from you, because we are “soul sisters”). Here is how I would traipse around the city in the above beauties:  I would wear them with shorts on a crispy fall afternoon while running errands, I would put them on after yoga when grabbing coffee, or I would pair them with a funky skirt and white t-shirt while having dinner and a cocktail with friends.   Anyone who knows me would agree that these furry finds fit my personality to a T and I would wear them all the time!

But, as you noticed in my last post I have been dying for this piece of furniture in my family room:

So…you get where I am going with this….my fashion sense and my decor choices tend to go hand in hand!

Here is the dress my friend Kari purchased for her trip (She is an Aries):

Kari's fabulous find from Rag and Bone

Now here is the piece of furniture Kari wants to buy for her house:

Womb chair and ottoman that Kari loves

Debra is another friend who is a good example of my theory.  Below is a clothing line she likes to wear. (She is a Libra):

Debra wears tops by Roberta Roller Rabbit and it is so her style

This Serena and Lily bar cart would fit in fabulously with Debra's decor and summertime soirees!

I would love to hear if you agree that fashion and decor follow one another.  Take a chance…Let the world see who you really are with your sense of style and home furnishings! Thanks to all my friends and readers for the constant inspiration.
